Corpus Juris Civilus is a body of Roman Law compiled by the Byzantine Emperor Justinian. It includes the Twelve Tables, which were Rome’s earliest laws, Justinian’s Institutes, which were important pronouncements of law made by Emperor Justinian, as well as commentaries by several important legal experts from Imperial Rome.
